901 users on LagSciPrep. From 592 to 901 in just weeks. The momentum is building as we approach 1,000 users across 60+ departments at UNILAG. Here's what this growth tells us about the platform and where we're headed next.
When I wrote about crossing 592 users last month, I thought that was a big deal. And it was. But what happened next surprised even me.
The IED 2026 Effect
Winning Best Innovative Project at IED 2026 changed things. Not just in terms of recognition — though that opened doors, including conversations with Delta40 Venture Studio — but in terms of visibility and trust.
Students who were on the fence about trying LagSciPrep started signing up. Departments that hadn't engaged before began reaching out. The award served as validation that this platform — this thing I built in my dorm room — was actually solving a real problem.
"Recognition isn't just about the trophy. It's about the trust it builds with users."
From 592 to 901 — What Changed?
The growth wasn't accidental. Three things happened between the 592-user mark and where we are now:
-
🏆
IED 2026 Win — The award brought credibility and campus-wide attention to LagSciPrep.
-
📱
Word of Mouth — Students told their friends. Department reps recommended it to their coursemates.
-
🎯
Consistent Value — The platform kept working. Students kept practicing. Results kept improving.
The 1,000 User Milestone is Within Reach
901 users. We're 99 away from 1,000. That's not just a number — it's proof of concept. It's validation that students at UNILAG, across 60+ different departments, need and want this tool.
When I started building LagSciPrep, the goal was simple: help science students prepare for exams better. I didn't set out to build something that would reach nearly 1,000 users. I just wanted to solve a problem I saw every day as a student myself.
"Build something people need, and they will come. Keep it useful, and they will stay."
What This Means for the Future
Crossing 901 users changes the calculus. We're not in experimental mode anymore. This is real. Students are relying on LagSciPrep for their exam preparation. That responsibility matters.
The roadmap just got more ambitious:
-
📊
Enhanced Analytics — Giving students deeper insights into their performance and weak areas.
-
🤖
AI-Powered Recommendations — Suggesting practice questions based on individual performance patterns.
-
👥
Department-Specific Content — Tailoring question banks to match specific departmental curricula.
-
🔗
Integration with Tutorial Haven — Creating a seamless learning ecosystem across both platforms.
To the 901 Users — Thank You
To every single one of the 901 users on LagSciPrep — thank you. You're not just numbers in a database. You're students with goals, with exams to pass, with futures to shape. And you chose to trust this platform with your preparation.
To Helix 29, my Cell Biology and Genetics people — you've been here from the beginning. Your feedback, your usage, your trust — it built this.
To the students across 60+ departments — you proved that need knows no departmental boundaries. From Physiology to Geology, from Microbiology to Biochemistry — you're all here, and you're all preparing together.
"901 users. 99 to go. Then we keep going."
What's Next
The goal isn't just to hit 1,000 users. It's to serve those 1,000 users so well that they tell their friends. It's to build features that actually help students succeed. It's to create something that lasts beyond my time at UNILAG.
My name is Jephthah. I'm a developer, a founder, a 100-level student at UNILAG.
I build things that grow. And apparently... they keep growing.
